Events
Calendar
The following are events
where you can see the boat, meet the team, and maybe have a sail in her
yourself. We already have a few confirmed dates for the 2004 season and are
still recieving invitations from time to time. Please
contact us if you would
like us to bring one of our boats to your open day, arrange a demonstration or
try one of the boats on our home water (Cardiff Bay). Note that we may be unable
to meet every request - we have to build boats sometimes!
24th
& 25th June 2004: Cotswold Water Park
We are going to
Whitefriars Sailing Club where the Access Championships will be held over the
weekend, we will cruise about during the practice days to provide a little
variety.
5th
June 2004: Cardiff
Bay (provisional)
A taster day to
demonstrate the variety of boating available on Cardiff Bay, details to follow.
22nd
May 2004: Milton
Keynes
We have been asked by
Milton
Keynes Sailability to take a boat to Caldecott Lake South for a day's
sailing. We have also invited some enquirers from the Dinghy Sailing Show who
live in the area, if you want to come too drop us a line.
3rd
May 2004: Chase Sailing Club
We are going back to
Chasewater to sail on their open day on Bank Holiday Monday, we are hoping for a
good day's sailing. If you are in the area come along and have a go.
24th
April 2004: Langstone
(Nr Portsmouth)
Guests of the
Langstone Sailing Club. Their
sailability section in particular want a look at the boat, and give it a try
out.
22nd
April 2004: Neatishead
(Nr Norwich)
Demonstration for the
Nancy Oldfield Trust. While the
idea is for them to try out the boat, they have generously said that other
parties from the area can also take part. If you are interested let us know
please so that we know to expect you. We have to be off the water by 3:00 pm to
get the boat back to Cardiff.
17th
April 2004: Newhaven
and Seaford (Between Brighton and Eastbourne)
We are going to be at
Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club's open
day. They sail from Newhaven Marina, Seaford beach and Piddinghoe pond. We will
probably sail on the pond, but don't really know until we have checked it all
out on the day. Still, you will want to visit all three sites while you're
there. The club is having a membership recruitment drive so if you need a
sailing club in the area it could be worth a visit!
27th
March 2004: Chasewater
The boat will be at the
West Midlands Regional Conference hosted by
Chasewater Sailing Club for
the RYA coaches and instructors to try out.
6th
& 7th March 2004: The Dinghy Sailing Show
We have booked our space
at Alexandra Palace again. We will be on Stand G25 in the West Hall, near the
Live Events Arena. Come and have a close-up look at the boat and a chat, and
don't forget your cheque book.
31st
January 2004: Cardiff
Bay Yacht Club
We plan to be sailing
most of the day, weather permitting, as all of the WYA instructors will be there
for a meeting. (Unfortunately we could not get to pick up the sails in time,
they were at P&B for them to copy/modify ready for the new boat. In any case
they tell me that the weather was really foul, but I had a nice warm lie in!)
11th
September 2003: Whitefriars Sailing Club
We have been invited to
a special day there. A recruiting drive has resulted in one new member of just
92 years old. She has sailed before as a teenager, but apparently things have "changed
a bit since then".
16th
& 17th August 2003: Northampton Sailing Club
We will be on Pitsford
Reservoir for two days (actually we will be there or Friday too, but that is for
Pinnell and Bax to check the sails and do some sailing tests with us).
14th
August 2003: Rutland
Water
The Manta Equation
will be at Rutland Water, mainly to give the 2.4 sailors something to look at,
and Val wants a sail. Bit of an informal day.
13th
August 2003: Whitefriars,
Cotswold Water Park
We have been asked to
take the boat to Cotswold Water Park to give some children from Chernobyl a trip
round the lake.
20th
July 2003:
Llangorse Sailing Club
The Manta Equation will
be demonstrated on Llangorse lake (South Wales) courtesy of the Llangorse
Sailing Club.
6th-8th
June 2003: Beale Park Boat
Show
The Beale Park Boat
Show takes place in the beautiful surroundings of a wildlife park. Access to the
show also gives access to the wildlife park. A great family day out. Location:
Lower Basildon, Reading. |
